"I want to encourage all of you in this effort, because I know that “your young hearts want to build a better world. I have been following news reports of the many young people throughout the world who have taken to the streets to express the desire for a more just and fraternal society. Young people taking to the streets! The young want to be protagonists of change. Please, do not leave it to others to be protagonists of change. You are the ones who hold the future! Through you, the future enters into the world. I ask you also to be protagonists of this transformation... (Christus Vivit, #174).
"Young friends, don't wait until tomorrow to contribute your energy, your audacity and your creativity to changing our world. Your youth is not an 'in-between time.' You are the now of God, and he wants you to bear fruit, (Christus Vivit, #178.)
The Good News gives meaning to my life and empowers me to become a Good Samaritan. We are called to live as prophets of change in our world, bringing that Good News to others through our words and the way we treat others. Pope Francis invites young people to act as protagonists in our world today, prophets of change that call upon the people of our time to work for justice and peace. This is what it means to be a Good Samaritan and to courageously live the Gospel.
